About Geotrail

Who We Are

Geotrail is built and maintained by YmmDigitals, an independent software studio. We build focused, practical tools that solve one problem well — Geotrail's job is to look at a photo and make an educated, AI-powered guess about where it was taken.

Our Mission

Most reverse-image-location tools are either locked behind paid subscriptions or bury the feature inside a larger, unrelated product. We wanted a version that's free to use, doesn't require an account, and gets straight to the result — so travelers, researchers, journalists, and the curious can identify a photo's likely location in seconds.

How Geotrail Works

When you upload a photo, Geotrail sends it to an AI vision model that examines architectural styles, visible text and signage, vegetation and terrain, landmarks, and other visual cues, then returns its best estimate of the country, city, and coordinates — along with a confidence score and short explanation. We don't ask for an account, and we don't keep your photos longer than necessary to produce that result.

What Geotrail Isn't

Geotrail's results are AI-generated estimates, not verified facts. Accuracy depends heavily on what's visible in the photo — a close-up with no landmarks, signage, or distinctive scenery will be much harder to place than a wide shot of a famous plaza. Treat every result as a starting point for your own research, not a definitive answer, and never as the sole basis for a legal, safety, or navigational decision.

How We Operate

  • Free, no account required: The core tool is free to use and doesn't require sign-up. We may introduce optional paid features in the future, but the existing free functionality won't be paywalled retroactively.
  • Privacy-conscious by default: We only process the images you choose to upload, for the purpose of returning a location result. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
  • Honest about AI limitations: We'd rather tell you when a result is low-confidence than dress up a guess as certainty.
