Cookie Policy

What This Policy Covers

This policy explains what Geotrail currently stores in your browser, and what may be added once we display advertising through Google AdSense. "Cookies" here also covers similar browser storage technologies, such as localStorage.

What We Use Today

Right now, Geotrail stores exactly one piece of data in your browser: your cookie-consent preference (whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies), saved using your browser's localStorage so we don't show the consent banner on every visit. This is strictly necessary for the site to function as intended and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

We do not currently run any analytics or advertising scripts. If that changes, this page and our consent banner will be updated first.

Advertising Cookies (Once Enabled)

We intend to display advertising through Google AdSense to help keep Geotrail free. Once active, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to serve ads, measure performance, and — where permitted and consented to — personalize ads based on your browsing activity.

You can learn more about how Google uses this data, and manage your ad personalization settings, at Google's own Ads Settings and Privacy & Terms pages.

Your Choices

You can accept or reject optional cookies at any time using the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser's site data for Geotrail to reset that choice. Most browsers also let you block cookies entirely through their settings, though this may affect how ads (and some third-party embeds) behave.

Google provides browser-level opt-out tools for personalized advertising, such as the Google Ads Settings page and industry opt-out pages like the Digital Advertising Alliance's.
